CELLA contains BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157), a synthetic pentadecapeptide composed of 15 amino acids derived from a partial sequence of a protective protein originally isolated from human gastric juice. BPC-157 is studied in preclinical research for its structural stability in gastric acid environments, a property uncommon among peptide chains of similar length. Current laboratory research examines three primary areas of interest. Soft tissue interaction: Studies have examined BPC-157 in tendon, ligament, and gastrointestinal tissue models, exploring its role in cellular signalling within connective tissue environments. Angiogenesis modulation: Research published in the Journal of Physiology-Paris indicates BPC-157 may upregulate growth factors involved in angiogenic processes, a mechanism central to cellular repair models.
